Gladys Martial, who passed away of complications of Alzheimer's disease, had received formal training in Haiti in sewing, fashion design, and culinary arts. A former instructor and entrepreneur, Gladys Martial also made consistent efforts to empower women in her community. Gladys was my mother and my first teacher.
