I started to write at the age of 13 when I discovered poetry in school, in my homeland of Haiti. I have since written countless of poems in French, Haitian Creole, and in English. My most recent publications are 3 poetry collections mainly in English, in my series JOURNAL OF THE CARIBBEAN NIGHTINGALE. I was also taught to cook at a young age by two phenomenal Haitian women. Both my mother Gladys who had received classical culinary training, and my paternal grandmother, Georgette who was a master storyteller shared countless family traditions, oral history with me in their kitchen. Today, I still view the art of cooking as a beautiful way to connect with family and friends. I find joy in writing and performing poetry as well as tweaking traditional recipes.
